An initial investment just short of 2 million dollars resulted in a complete restoration of the exterior of the Mansion, significant improvements to the interior, farm fencing across the front of the property, new signage along McGavock Pike, a 20-year Master Plan for the property, a calendar of annual events, offering historic tours, opening the 1802 House, installation of security devices, and plans for a new event center that will enable the Mansion to become a house museum. In February 2024, a second exterior restoration project was begun by the Parks Department. This project is expected to last until the spring of 2025 and will result in a structure as close to newly constructed as possible.
During the exterior work, a fifth bedroom was reclaimed from an unused portion of the second floor, and wallpaper and plaster replacement and repair were completed in other second-floor rooms.
