Our organization is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Two Rivers Mansion, the 1802 House, and Stone Hall. 100% of all donations go to support the goal of preserving, restoring, and promoting the properties and their history. You can show your support by making a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of Two Rivers.
William (Bill) Blundin was the last living relative connected to the Two River’s Mansion McGavock family. He was the cousin of Mary Louise Bransford McGavock, who was the surviving widow of Spence McGavock, and the last of the three generations of McGavock’s who made Two Rivers their home. Mary Louise’s death in December 1965 marked the end of her last 10 years that were spent at Two Rivers. During that time Bill made multiple visits with his cousin and came to love the property almost as much as she did. After the founding of the Friends of Two Rivers in 2010 Bill became aware of the Friends of Two Rivers efforts to preserve the property, the history of the family, and the site.
As the Friends group began to show strength and success as an organization, his interest and love for the property transitioned into something of a benefactor. It is through his generosity that we can point to the impressive stone sign near the McGavock Pike entrance. Behind the sign and entry columns a farm fence stretches across the property frontage and the fountain in the boxwood garden works again. Inside the Mansion there are new drapes and new carpets. He gifted items that he purchased from the estate of 1966 including the large mirror that hangs over the mantle in the back parlor. He funded development of two educational programs that are geared to the Tennessee Schools Curriculum for early peoples and slavery, and the list goes on. Mr. Blundin has left a legacy at Two Rivers that will live on as long as the Mansion stands and he will frequently be in our memory as we experience his presence in the gifts he left us.
Your donation in Mr. Blundin’s memory will honor his love for Two Rivers but it will also mirror his generosity, and it will enable the Friends of Two Rivers to continue our mission of preservation, restoration and the promotion of the history of Two Rivers and the generations that made it their home.
