From a young age, Yoshie has possessed an equal passion for history, writing, and film. It is from these roots that she now enjoys a satisfying career, using her voice as a film maker in tandem with public history education.
She has had a multi-faceted career in the entertainment industry, first as a dancer and then print model and actor, earning her SAG card along the way. During those years, she concurrently worked in the field of theatrical costuming. As an extension of her work in that field, she also developed an extensive knowledge of historic clothing. In 2004, she completed a MA in Producing Film from the American University in DC, which included course work in IP law and packaging production deals. She has worked both domestically and internationally as a producer, line producer, locations manager, camera operator, and editor.
Beyond documentary work in the history arena, she has authored/co-authored three books for Arcadia Publishing: Lorton – Then and Now, Muscle Shoals, and Tennessee State Penitentiary. She has had the privilege of working on site as a docent for Manskers Station/The Bowen House and George Washington’s Mount Vernon; and has volunteered over the years at Travellers Rest, Rippavilla, and Historic Rock Castle.
