Nick Fielder

Nick Fielder earned his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering and Anthropology / Archeology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  He went on to earn a Masters of Anthropology / Archeology from the University of Idaho.    Nick has enjoyed a wide ranging long career, from an engineering internship at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center to various archeology roles in both academic focuses as well as the private sector.  Nick was a research associate at UT Knoxville’s Department of Anthropology.  He then joined the Tennessee Historical Commission as a staff archeologist and later appointed as State Archaeologist and Director of the Division of Archeology’s statewide program for preservation and stewardship.

Nick served as the Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Coordinator Liaison with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), where he coordinated emergency responses from the Tennessee Division of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) to natural and man-made disasters.

Upon retirement, Nick began a career as an artist and has his original works in the collections of the Tennessee State Museum, American Museum of Science and Energy at Oak Ridge and the Fuller Art Center in Los Alamos, New Mexico and numerous private collectors.  Nick specializes in historical landscapes of prehistoric scenes based on archaeological excavations, history of atomic energy, and southern folk culture practices.

Nick is also a consultant providing archeological advice to local agencies and private developers.
